Our Top 10 Most Played Games of 2024

Here's our countdown of the top 10 most played games of 2024, complete with play counts that showcase what our group loved the most.

10. 5-Minute Dungeon (4 Plays)

Fast, chaotic, and hilariously fun, 5-Minute Dungeon has earned its spot on our list as the go-to game for quick, cooperative challenges. Its frantic gameplay and easy-to-learn mechanics make it perfect for our group when we’re looking for a fast-paced filler or an icebreaker before diving into longer games. I usually use this game to get new people into board games as its fast and quick.

9. Arkham Horror: 3rd Edition (5 Plays)

Arkham Horror: 3rd Edition remains a favourite for fans of deep storytelling and cooperative problem-solving. With expansions adding even more to its atmospheric game play, it’s no wonder this game keeps making its way back to our table.

8. King of Tokyo (7 Plays)

Few games capture the joy of rolling dice and smashing cities quite like King of Tokyo. This family-friendly game offers a perfect blend of strategy and luck as we battle to be the ultimate monster. Its simplicity and replayability ensure it’s always a hit with our group. I only taught this game to our group in November 2024 so that shows how much they loved it , with it having a high number of plays and only had the last two months of the year to make the list .

7. Carcassonne (8 Plays)

This tile-placement classic continues to enchant our players with its elegant design and endless strategic possibilities. Whether we’re building sprawling cities or dominating roads, Carcassonne offers a relaxing yet competitive experience that’s perfect for newcomers and veterans alike. Sometimes you cant beat going back to a classic and that remains true for Carcassonne .

6. Crokinole (9 Plays)

A dexterity game that’s equal parts skill and fun, Crokinole has been a staple for generations and still finds its way onto peoples tables. The blend of strategic aiming and satisfying game play keeps it relevant and deeply enjoyed. We only acquired a board in September. We are already planning to enter a tournament in 2025 at the UK games expo.

5. Zombie Dice (10 Plays)

Simple, quick, and addictive, Zombie Dice is a dice-rolling push-your-luck game that’s perfect for our casual gaming sessions. Its humor and fast pace make it a hit with players looking for lighthearted fun. This game got so many plays mainly with my husband and myself after a long day at work , your to tired for a long game but want to play something.

4. Splendor (12 Plays)

Splendor continues to shine as a polished gem in the world of board games. Its elegant mechanics and satisfying engine-building make it a favourite for both our casual and competitive players.

3. The Art Project (14 Plays)

The Art Project as a game has become the bane of mine and my husbands lives . This game about travelling around the world trying to get stolen art back . This is the only Co-op game we own we have never beaten. 14 plays and no wins maybe this year will be the year .

2. Art Society (15 Plays)

Combining strategy and social dynamics, Art Society immerses our group in the high-stakes world of art auctions and gallery management. Its thematic depth and strategic choices have earned it a loyal following within our circle. I think we all jsut love making pretty galleries .

1. River Valley Glassworks (20 Plays)

Taking the top spot is River Valley Glassworks. This stunning game about gathering glass from a river and then placing it in your glasswork shop to sell for points . Its beautiful components and engaging mechanics make it the most played game of 2024 by a landslide. We only got this game in October at Essen Germany at the Speil Board game convention.
